Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is one of the primary treatments of spider veins. Spider veins are usually blue or red in color. The blue veins are treated with a sclerosing agent which in injected into the small vessels of the skin. This irritates the cell wall causing it to collapse and disappear. The treatment of the red varicose veins is done by laser.
There is minimal discomfort with both of these modalities.
VNUS Closure® and Endo Laser
VNUS Closure and Endolaser are used for the treatment of an incompetent saphenous vein. The saphenous vein is responsible for feeding some surface varicose veins that lead to the large bulging veins that you see. Both procedures are performed under local anesthesia and are very similar in nature. The VNUS Closure uses a radio frequency catheter whereas the Endo Laser uses a laser catheter. In either case the wire catheter is inserted into the vein and by by delivering heat either by radio frequency or laser the damaged vein is sealed shut.
Phlebectomy
Phlebectomy is the surgical removal of any surface varicose veins that are left over after the VNUS Closure or Endo Laser treatment. Small incisions are made to pull the veins out with minimal to almost no scarring. This is done on an out patient basis. Patients are able to resume ordinary activities with in a day.
With all procedures support hose must be worn and can be purchased at the Shoreline Vein Clinic for a reasonable price.
Endermology - Cellulite Reduction
Endermology is used as a treatment to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is caused not only by enlarged fat cells and fluid retention but impairment of the microcirculation. This in turn causes a build up of toxins in the connective tissue. Endermology is the process which simulates a massage. The blood flow is increased through this treatment allowing your body to banish those toxins. As a result it will smooth your skin and promote contouring.
